The incredible, never-ending black space upon reboot in Jaguar problem

The bug that won't get fixed :: Yup, I've tried the feedback page. Several of us with early iMacs have been discussing the issue on several forums, but Apple still has not fixed the problem with early iMacs not holding their screen resolutions between reboots. Not a big problem, you say? Maybe, except for Apple seems to have fixed something similar in its 10.2.2 update for third-party displays, but not its own older hardware. Am I the only person frustrated by this? Probably. But it's my Web site, and I can use it as a soapbox if I want. :-) Read more...

Wipin' it all clean :: On the up side, sorry it's been a while since I've shared, I haven't felt like I've had much to say, really. The above issue got me going and forced me back to my pen. While I was here, I figured I'd give another update: If you haven't done it already, I highly suggest doing a clean install/reformat of Jaguar if you are having speed issues. I recently save all of my important files to my external firewire drive and stuck in the Jag disk and wiped it all clean and started from scratch. I had been having annoying issues like the "Emptying trash dialog staying up for 10 seconds" glitch, but they have all but disappeared now and believe it or not, my little old Bondi Rev. B iMac with the 500 Mhz upgrade card is just as fast for most things in OS X as it is in OS 9!
